INFORMATION ABOUT TWIGS

TWIGS is an English/Norwegian band based in Bergen, Norway, which has been in existence since August -94. The bandmembers are experienced musicians from the underground scene in Bergen. TWIGS is a band with a very recognizable sound, a kind of noisy, trashy pop, with melody and enough punch to make grandma grind her teeth.

TWIGS recorded their first demo in the spring of 1995. At this point they had a male singer. In late spring he left the band, and the bassplayer took over as vocalist. The combination female vocals/rattling guitars has proved even more successful than the orginial setup.
Demo no. 2 was recorded in Midwest Recording A/S, Bergen, in January 1996. This demo was well recieved, both by the music press and by the Norwegian rock scene, and resulted in a number of live jobs.

In the summer of 1996 TWIGS released the mini-CD "Beast". The result was a rather trashy kind of indie pop, with melody and a lot of punch. "Beast" recieved some exellent reviews in the Norwegian and the international music press, and resulted in a contract with the booking company Motor AB in Norway and Sweden. The title-song from the mini-CD was included on a compilation CD released by the English music magazine "Totally Wired" in 1997.

In December 1997 TWIGS secured a record deal with the Swedish label "SunSpot Records". The CD "No more 24" was released in Sweden and Norway in March 1998. "No more 24" was recorded and mixed in Bergen, with Jørgen Træen as technician and co-producer. The album has recieved excellent reviews in Norway, Sweden, USA and Eastern Europe.
The opening song on "No more 24" was included on the compilation CD "Inhale", released by the Canadian label "Indica records" in 1997.
TWIGS completed a tour of Norway and Sweden in connection with the release of "No More 24".

Following the departure of Morten and Per Steinar in 1998, the new line-up was completed by two new guitarists; Tor Erik (ex-Serene) and Eirik (ex-Loophead, ex-The Incredible Eating Machine). Finn switched from guitar to drums. The new line up is proving to be very successful.

The promosingle "Divulge" was released in February 2000. The singel was well received, and got a lot of airplay around the world.

In the fall of 2000 TWIGS teamed up with the Canadian label Endearing Records. The CD "Epicure" was released in April 2001 in Canada and the US.  Once again recorded and mixed at Duper in Bergen, with  technician and co-producer Jørgen Træen. Again TWIGS managed to take their music one step further. One critic from Erasing Clouds described the new CD like this:
"Watch your back and enjoy the ride; Epicure is not only an exhilarating trip, it's a work of immense beauty, one more reminder that, when delivered right, the loudest guitar screech can make you gasp in awe and admiration as much as the prettiest sunset can."

TWIGS is a band with extensive live experience, and has performed in Bergen, London, Stavanger, Haugesund, Trondheim, Oslo, Gothenburg etc. Twigs has played together with, among others, 22 Pistepirkko, Cows, Letters to Cleo, Ex-Cathedra, Punishment Park, Derozer, Los Fastidios and The Wannadies.

Twigs has been covered extensively on P3-Roxrevyen, the most important alternative music programme on Norwegian national radio. Twigs has also been played on other Norwegian radio channels, as well as radio stations in England, Canada, Sweden, Finland, Brazil, Italy, Argentina, Portugal and Belarus. Twigs has also been on the playlist at WRAS Atlanta, one of the major college radio stations in the USA.
