How to find a game room and someone to play with

There are several ways to find gaming partners in BSW, but the game manager is probably the easiest. If you prefer to play with English speaking players EnglishTown is where you find the most of them. EnglishTown have it's own game manager. You find it in the Games Galore Tower building centraly located in town. Or you can enter it with the command /manager eng

We enter the Games Galore Tower.

If you use the command /hook <nick> to jump to a room where a preson is you will also enter a "entrance" room like this. Then they way to enter the game board is always to click the upper right picture. We click the picture to enter the manager.

We click the first chest - "Alles" where all the games are collected.

We use the arrow to the right to move down the list untill we find Puerto Rico. (The list is alfabetic, except for the latest games added to BSW - these you find in the bottom of the list). When we find Puerto Rico we click the icon for the game.

Here you can easily see what games are going on and where there are free seats.
In the first room there are 3 players at the table and 2 players that are just in the room, but that haven't joined the game yet. Since there are no star in front of the game name this game is not in play. You can click the button "beitreten" to join the game directly. This is NOT recomended except if the game room is empty though. If there are already players around the table it is not considered good behaviour to just rush into a game without asking if you can join. To enter the room without joining directly you just click the gaming table. If you are new to a game, always tell and ask if it is ok if you join. In most cases people have no problem with having new players around the table.

If you enter a game room by clicking the table you can join the game with giving the command /join

If there are no free game rooms for the game you want to play in the EnglishTown game manager you can enter the main game manager with the command /manager

If you only find emptyp game rooms you need to find players for the game. As soon as you join the game this will be show several places in the BSW system so to increase the chance of having players comming to your game room it is important that you join the game (command: /join)

When you have joined a game the game will show up in the "Mitspieler" chest both in the EnglishTown game manager and the BSW game manager. It will also show in the game in progress lists in something called the SPV tool. But instead of just sitting hoping that someone will pop by and play with you, you can also use the active approach.

Getting players for your game

So, we have found a game room, we have joined the game, and we are waiting for players. How do we make them come faster?

The EnglishTown chat
If you are a member of EnglishTown you can ask for players in the ET chat. (If the chat window isn't already open you can send a message with the command /ctell ).

/gameyell
You can use the command /gameyell to anounce that you are waiting for players.
You can type just /gameyell or /gameyell <message>.
The gameyell will show in the SPV tool. The SPV tool you find on the toolbar by clicking on the icon with the 2 players on.

The gameyells people have sent you will find under "Game partners" in the SPV tool. The message you send is showed on the second line, after your nick. If you look at the gameyell that was sent at 19:17 (second row), we can there see that JuniorMcSpiffy are looking for a 4th player for Fuersten. It is recomended that you send a good message. It can also be very usefull to say how many players totaly you want to play with if you are going for an unconventional number (e.g. if you want to play settlers with 4 you should tell that it is players for a settlers 4er you are looking for, same goes for CCJuS or CC/CCE with more than 2 players). From the game partner list in the SPV-tool one can click the message to enter the game room. More info about the SPV-tool.

The SPV-channel
The SPV-channel is the channel for finding gaming partners. Everyone join this channel by default when they enter BSW (if you don't want to have the channel poping up all the time, minimize it or quite it by typing /exit in the channel window).
Most of the game requests here are posted in German, but don't hesitate to post gamerequests in English here.
When you ask for players in the SPV channel, try to give all the information needed in one line. Game name. How many more players you are looking for. It is easier to get someone to come if you are only missing one player. This is especially the case for games it is harder to get players for.
Most people prefer to give a game command than writing a hook to a long and nasty nick. Informing about what game room you want them to come to can be usefull. (To figure out in which game room you are presently in, give the command /whereis <your nick> )

When you are getting really desperate....

When you are getting really desperate in searching for game partners you could try with some german. A usefull phrase would be Wir suchen noch einen für <game name> which means: We are looking for one more player for <game name>. If you want a fast game of settlers going this could be the way to go: Wir suchen noch einen schnellen siedler, mit Turnier (meaning: we need one more fast player for settlers, turnament mode game)

Other usefull commands to know:

The command to "talk" with people that are in other rooms are /tell. Like if you want to say hi to Nikita you write: /tell Nikita hi

If you get a message from someone that ask you to play with them you can move to their game by the /hook command. E.g. if you want to go to the same game room as Nikita is in, you write /ghook Nikita

If you ask someone to come to a game you can also inform them about the game number so they can join by writing the /game command. If you for example want to go to game C10-1you give the command /game C10-1 (the game number is written in front of the game name in the "Spielpartner Vermittlung" tool).

All the game rooms in EnglishTown start with C10-
And we do of course recommend that you play your games in our town :-)
Big advantage is that by playing in the EnglishTown games you are more certain to avoid people that are only talking German during the game play...

How to find the EnglishTown games

All the EnglishTown games start with C10-
We also have a game manager. This you find in /manager eng  (the tower in the center of town). Here you will find all the games in EnglishTown, and you will also be able to see if there are people in the game rooms or not.

You can also stroll along in the town and enter the game rooms by clicking the game houses.

When you are in ET you can also use the /gwho command to see in what game rooms there are people (you can not see if the game have started or not in this way, but if you e.g. see that there are 2 people in a siedler room or 3 in a tichu room, you know they need one more.... )

If you install the clinet and use our .prop-file generator you will also be able to get all the EnglishTown game rooms in your client menu.

Support EnglishTown with your game play!

Every time you play a game in EnglishTown there is at least 50% chance ET gain some resources from the game play. This we can use to build new game houses. Especially if you are a ET member, it makes a big difference if you play your game in ET compared to another town. If you e.g. play a game of tichu in ET together with 3 other non ET players, ET will get 62,5% of all the resources earned from the games. If you play with the same people, but in another town, ET will only get 12,5% of the resources earned from the games.
If 4 people from ET play tichu together in ET they ET will get all resources from the game play. If the same 4 ET players play their tichu games in another town ET only get 50% of the resources. Even non ET players support ET with 50% resources when they play in ET.

So for ET members; best way around is to find a ET game, enter the game channel for that game and ask people there to come play with you. Best then is to know the name of the game room you are in so you can ask like "1 more player needed for tichu in /game C10-6" (you find the game room by using the /whereis (name) command (e.g. /whereis Nikita).
